To feel “a call,” to know what would actually be next... to do, to experience... we all know that. But do we follow this call? In story code, or the “hero’s journey,” the call describes the point in the story where the actual story begins. And in a good story this is a turning point - from here it only really becomes interesting. And, as a rule, full of obstacles. But who likes watching a dull film? In life it is often the other way around. Most people choose to refuse their call and preserve their comfort zone as much as possible. Ultimately, this exacts a high price. In Integral Art Training, this image is used to discover where the viewer currently stands in relation to this call and what is truly due in that person’s life...
When “Der Ruf” was created, I was at a turning point in my life. A deep longing for reconnection - to myself, to nature and to genuine relationship - began to express itself in my work. Archetypal images found their way through me onto the canvas and often touch unconscious layers of the viewer’s psyche. I followed the fascination - and this picture became the basis of my work with people internationally today.
